05.11.2021 At Sinnwell, a career change is successful starting at 50.
The modern job market has a problem: Many companies are looking for skilled workers who are expected to have an almost unrealistic résumé. Ideally, they want people under 30 who have completed vocational training or a degree and already have five or more years of professional experience. However, this applies to very few job seekers. It becomes especially difficult for people over 50 who want to start over, retrain, or are generally looking for a new job. Bettina Leonhardt, who started at Sinnwell as a career changer at the age of 53, shows that with the right support and motivation, this can indeed succeed.
Now 59, she has been working at Sinnwell for almost six years. Originally, she trained as a technical draftswoman in the fields of refractory and chimney construction and worked as an executive assistant in her family’s mechanical engineering business. During her job search, she became aware of Sinnwell through acquaintances and then directly contacted Konstantin Tsaligopoulos. An interview followed, she impressed them, and since the motto at Sinnwell is “age doesn’t matter,” Ms. Leonhardt was able to sign her new employment contract within a week.
From challenge to daily business
To start at Sinnwell, Bettina Leonhardt had to familiarize herself with mobile communications technology. This new field initially posed a challenge for her, which she mastered with flying colors. In addition to her work at Sinnwell, Ms. Leonhardt completed training as a project manager at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in 2020. The company always supported and motivated her throughout. Today, as a contract manager, Ms. Leonhardt supervises various clients at Sinnwell and is considered a true specialist.
She enjoys working at Sinnwell
Bettina Leonhardt greatly enjoys working for Sinnwell. From the very beginning, the company recognized her as a qualified all-rounder. She was consistently assigned new projects, and when one didn’t quite fit, a creative solution was quickly found: she was given the opportunity to prove herself in recruiting for three months.
What Bettina Leonhardt particularly appreciates is the working atmosphere at Sinnwell, where trust, acceptance, and a family-like approach are highly valued. The right balance between challenge and support has always motivated her—and helped her grow. Even though Bettina Leonhardt is still several years away from the usual retirement age, one thing is already clear to her today: “For me, all the conditions at Sinnwell are just right. I would like to continue working at the company even beyond my retirement age.”
