18.11.2022 Our First Responder
First aid responders are required in companies and shoulder a great deal of responsibility. At our client’s site in Nuremberg, Sebastian takes on this important role. Sebastian is a certified industrial clerk, has worked in the telecommunications industry for many years, and has been supporting SINNWELL in this capacity since March 2022. Thanks to his work with the Nuremberg Volunteer Fire Department and his previous 10 years of service with the THW, Sebastian is ideally qualified to serve as a first responder.
What does a workplace first responder do?
If an employee experiences a medical emergency, it is the first responder’s duty to care for them, provide initial medical care, and call emergency services. In addition, a first responder is responsible for passing on all relevant information to the emergency medical services and for regularly checking the first-aid supplies to ensure they are complete and clean. Thanks to his years of experience and numerous deployments with the THW and the volunteer fire department, Sebastian is able to quickly and carefully provide care to the injured person as a first responder.
What qualifications are required to be a workplace first responder?
To serve as a workplace first responder, you must complete a first aid course. This course must then be refreshed every two years.
However, a first responder must not only possess the necessary medical knowledge but also have the right personality for the job. In such an extreme situation, it is important to remain calm and reassure the injured person, rather than potentially infecting them with one’s own panic. Sebastian also brings this quality to the role through his work with the THW and the volunteer fire department. “For me, it goes without saying that I should be there when others need help,” says Sebastian.
Sebastian on Work-Life Balance
“I see my work with the volunteer fire department as the perfect balance to my office job. To participate in the important drills, I have to set aside three to five evenings a month. On top of that, there are occasional joint drills with the Nuremberg Fire Department’s firefighting units on weekends, as well as attending trade shows and ‘open house’ events.” Thanks to a good work-life balance at SINNWELL, I’m able to make the necessary time for this. I also think the camaraderie at the fire department is great, and I’ve made many friends there,” says Sebastian.
We think it’s great to have a first responder with so much experience like Sebastian, and we’re truly impressed by your professional and personal commitment.
