The flood disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia was a shock for the entire nation. 113 people lost their lives, 766 were injured, and three people are still reported missing. Many people from the region have lost their livelihoods, while large parts of the infrastructure have collapsed.

This event has motivated people to take action—whether through donations or active assistance. Currently, around 420 emergency responders are still deployed in the disaster area. In addition to the police, the Technical Relief Agency, the fire brigade and the armed forces, as well as numerous aid organizations, Sinnwell construction coordinator Andreas Kinzel was also on site. He himself has experienced one or two floods in the past. That is why he knows how important it is to help one another in emergency situations—whether among neighbors, friends, or strangers. The images in the media moved Andreas Kinzel so much that he could not just stand by and watch. Because, as Kinzel says, “the people of Germany must help each other in times like these.”

How Andreas Kinzel and Sinnwell AG are helping

Andreas Kinzel had planned to use his vacation to travel to Warpolzheim in the Ahr Valley to rebuild the electrical systems in damaged private homes. At the Baustoffzelt Kaiser material depot, he was able to prepare for the trip. On his journey to Rhineland-Palatinate on October 8, he carried cables, circuit breakers, and switches with him—materials worth €5,000, donated by Sinnwell AG. Until October 11, Kinzel assisted numerous households and helped repair electronic devices. This not only brought joy to the people on site. At the end of the day, Andreas Kinzel also felt good. He was there and made his contribution.
