14.03.2023 Workplace Safety at Great Heights

Effective safety training is the foundation of safety in the workplace. And nothing is more important than the health of our colleagues. That is why we hold an annual “Climbing and Rescue” training course for our technicians, site managers, planners, and coordinators who, on behalf of our clients, inspect mobile communications sites and climb transmission towers. This is a hands-on training course on the use of personal protective equipment against falls and the rescue of injured persons. It was supplemented by the general annual training on the principles of prevention and occupational safety on construction sites and the training for electronically trained personnel.

Last month, it was time again. At our Essen location, we dedicated two days to occupational safety. The theoretical training took place on the first day. Topics covered included:

  • Hazards from improper use
  • Physics of falls
  • Materials science
  • Storage, cleaning, and maintenance of protective equipment
  • First aid for suspension trauma and internal injuries

On the second day, the participants focused on the practical application of various protection and safety systems. A cell tower was rented from a local electrical company for this purpose. The exercises covered the following topics, among others:

  • Checking equipment before use
  • Putting on and using fall arrest harnesses and restraint systems correctly
  • Proper adjustment and fitting of equipment
  • Rescue using rescue equipment

There are numerous regulations that must be followed when working at heights and in areas where there is a risk of falling. Working safely and accident-free in such environments therefore requires special attention.

Thank you to our colleagues for their active participation in the training. Stay safe throughout the day.
